Artlink West Yorkshire is a community arts organisation specialising in arts and health initiatives. We are based in a terraced building in the Hyde Park area of Leeds, and have been in the building as an arts organisation since 1979. Our long-term ambition is to transform the building, which is currently in a very run down condition, into a state of the art centre for arts and health. To this end we are well underway in our Capital project, and have a comprehensive Feasibility Study and Business Plan, as well as funding bids in the pipe line!
We are governed by a management committee of seven people, and have three members of staff, two of whom are part-time. In the long term we would like to at least double the number of permanent staff we employ. We employ a number of professional freelance artists to deliver our projects. We pride ourselves in providing quality artistic initiatives for vulnerable members of the community; these include groups of mental health service users (Regional Centre for Eating Disorders, Studio 3, Assertive Outreach), young care leavers (Barnardos Futures), teenage mothers (Miss Conceived), women’s groups (Dosti, Koshish, African widows) Asylum Seekers and Refugees and much more!
