Having run Studio 3 for a number of years, and recently carrying out an intensive recruitment drive we found that participants with mental health issues found it very hard to access the group without initial support and encouragement. We were funded by the I3 programme, run by Leeds Adult Social Care, to expand and develop the group by working in partnership with day centres across Leeds. We did this by running visual arts sessions in the day centres initially to break down barriers that may exist for participants, and then ran follow on sessions along side the normal Studio 3 sessions at Artlink. The project culminated in an open celebration event in which participants were able to showcase their work and have an opportunity to talk about the project.
